Melia White House hotel
Re-launched in Spring 2002, following a £30 million refurbishment programme, the Melia White House is now one of London’s leading 4-star hotels. It occupies a handsome, 8-storey Art Deco building, which was originally a luxury apartment block. The spacious, circular lobby, with its light grey marble floor, imposing columns, granite reception desk and gilt-edged, Rococo-style tables, creates an excellent impression of opulence and refinement upon arrival. The 582 medium sized guestrooms feature beige and brown colour schemes, complemented by mahogany furnishings, including work desks. The well-maintained en suite bathrooms have marble tiles and granite counters with magnifying mirrors. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. The Place Restaurant is an informal brasserie, serving a variety of Mediterranean dishes throughout the day in a relaxed atmosphere, with a terra-cotta floor tiles and blue-and-cream upholstered chairs and tables. L'Albufera is an award winning contemporary Spanish Restaurant offering a five star service within sumptuous and elegant surroundings. Longfords Bar has wood panelling and offers a variety of cocktails, whiskies and specialist cigars in a comfortable environment with performances from a range of jazz singers and pianists from Tuesday to Sunday.

The pub just behind the hotel. The Queens Head and Artichoke, does excellent food, especially the huge selection of tapas.

Traveller from Church Stretton stayed in January,2008
Comment
We have stayed here several times before and have found it eminently satisfactory. The buffet breakfast is particularly good and the staff are excellent.
Top Tip
Eat at the nearby 'Great Nepalese' in Eversholt Street. It is cheap and very good. Stick to the Nepalese menu, which is better than the Indian. Set meals are good value. Bottled 'London Pride' goes well with the food.
Walking in Regents Park is very pleasant.

Traveller from Nottingham stayed in September,2007
Comment
The service and standard of the hotel was excellent. Our only disappointment was that the bathroom was extremely small. Cleanliness of the hotel and friendliness/service of the staff was second to none.
