Re-launched in Spring 2002, following a £30 million refurbishment programme, the Melia White House is now one of London’s leading 4-star hotels. It occupies a handsome, 8-storey Art Deco building, which was originally a luxury apartment block. The spacious, circular lobby, with its light grey marble floor, imposing columns, granite reception desk and gilt-edged, Rococo-style tables, creates an excellent impression of opulence and refinement upon arrival. The 582 medium sized guestrooms feature beige and brown colour schemes, complemented by mahogany furnishings, including work desks. The well-maintained en suite bathrooms have marble tiles and granite counters with magnifying mirrors. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. The Place Restaurant is an informal brasserie, serving a variety of Mediterranean dishes throughout the day in a relaxed atmosphere, with a terra-cotta floor tiles and blue-and-cream upholstered chairs and tables.
