In the heart of central London stands the luxury Russell Hotel and conference venue, a spectacular example of late Victorian architecture. As a base for exploring London's many nearby tourist attractions, the Hotel Russell is ideal. Many guests appreciate the grandeur of its design and its location overlooking Russell Square.
The Russell Hotel was built in 1898 and is one of the finest original 4-star properties in London. It is housed in an imposing building with an ornate terracotta and brick façade. Inside it has retained many of its original features, such as Sicilian marble columns, high vaulted ceilings, huge chandeliers, oak panelling and a grand marble staircase. The lobby features a magnificent mosaic floor that was part of the original property and has been fully restored after being covered up for many years due to war damage. The reception area, in complete contrast, is bright and modern.
The 373 guestrooms vary in size and feature a mixture of contemporary and traditional English décor, with Egyptian cotton linens on the beds. All are kept in good condition, as are the en suite bathrooms.
The recently renovated "Fitzroy Doll's Restaurant" is large and airy, with a wealth of period features. Whether it be a sandwich lunch delivered to your meeting suite, breakfast in bed, a private dinner, 24 hour room service, or a three-course meal, there is something to suite everyone. There is also the Tempus Bar, which offers the cosy, traditional ambience of a London club, which serves light snacks, drinks and cocktails in an atmospheric room, rich with the Hotel Russell's history.
