Overlooking Hyde Park, the Four Seasons Hotel is housed in a modern, 9-storey building with a fairly unremarkable façade that belies its opulent interior. Luxuriously appointed with marble floors and dark wood panelling, the spacious lobby is further enhanced by an Italian chandelier, oriental rugs and a small but comfortable seating area. Also spacious, the 219 guestrooms are comfortably furnished in a traditional style with reproductions of English antiques, which perfectly complement the warm-toned décor. The living area features an armchair, television, DVD player, dressing table and writing desk. Both the bedrooms and the en suite marble bathrooms are in excellent condition. Overlooking a private garden, with views across to Hyde Park, the hotel’s Lanes Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lanes features contemporary, cosmopolitan menus that unite influences from around the world while honouring traditional British favourites. The striking interior design is distinguished by wood panelling, stained glass and marbling in midnight blue, bottle green and deep cranberry. The restaurant’s stunning centrepiece is its glass and marble central buffet, topped by an 81-element glass sculpture. Stained-glass borders around the picture windows frame views up Park Lane. A separate section of the restaurant serves meals, bar snacks or cocktails at different times of day. Display cabinets showcase a curated collection of glass artwork, drawing together the works of 25 Canadian artists.
